Bholu

Happy Monday!. I found Bholu and immediately felt in love with their stuff animals and wall paper designs. Aren’t these monkeys, frogs and elephants the most adorable thing ever? I love the simplicity and the idea behind it.  They create beautiful products for your home while benefiting communities in need. Each piece is individually hand embroidered by a traditional artisan in rural communities of India, and part of the proceeds goes to Bholu Anganwadi Project which has now built a total of 8 pre schools in underprivileged communities. I love the work they do and the playful look to they stuffed animals. Check out their whole collection here.

David Lanham

Another artists that I wanted to  show is David Lanham. I really like his characters, colors and delicate line work. I can see his work in an illustrated book or even an animated movie. I specially like his use of shadows and lights, everything looks sharper. His website is filled with even more whimsical characters. Visit David’s website here.

Metro Art

Metro Art

Subway systems are not only extremely functional but are also the perfect space for art display. These are some of the most interesting ones I found but there were plenty all over the world to look at. Subway station are one of the best museum spaces, they get a large amount of visitors everyday and it’s a great way to learn about local artists.

I think the display of art in subway stations give commuters a sense of pride.  I remember the first time I saw the New York City piece of the crocodile and  the little people all over the station and how it brought a smile to my face. It’s a great way to spice up the day and learn something new.

Da Vinci Nail Mosaic

Da Vinci Nail Portrait

This is a mosaic of Leonardo Da Vinci made by Saimir Strati with 500,000 industrial nails. This mosaic was recognized by the Guinness World Record Officials for having made the world’s largest nail mosaic. This piece measures eight square meters and the pictures of how it was made makes this an amazing work of art and dedication. He played with different nail depths to create dimension and shadows. The scale and attention to detail of this mosaic are not to be missed.  Really inspirational work.
