Housing Works. New York, NY.

Housing Works

When you walk into Housing Works in Chelsea, you think you are working into an upscale thrift store with really fantastic furniture, designer clothing and shoes. When you talk to the staff and ask them about the store, you realize you are only seeing the business side of Housing Works. This Housing Works Thrift Store is only a part of a large organization determined to end the twin crises of AIDS and homeless. Their two thrift stores and bookstore are some of their most known businesses.

They believe that empowering homeless people and those living with AIDS is the way to get them started on a more fulfilling life. Housing Works provides the most successful training program for the homeless and those living with AIDS in the US. They guarantee every graduate a job after they complete their courses. This is the largest community-based AIDS service organization in the United States, as well as the nation’s largest minority-controlled AIDS service organization.

Their website offers furniture, high end clothing and other home goods for auction. All proceeds go to the organization. If you are looking for a designer item Housing Works has it and the prices are not bad at all. Visit them to see some of their items. Check their stores in NYC if you are in town, this could be your chance to find that treasure we are all looking for in a thrift store.

HangGoose™ Hanger At Matuse

Hanggoose Hanger

HangGoose™ is a handcrafted wetsuit hanger made with sustainably grown teak, a wood that will last a life time and will withstand years of salt and water abuse. This hanger provides room for your wetsuit, booties and gloves.

The HangGoose™ is the perfect travel companion for every surf trip you make, it collapses to fit in any bag. The best part about this hanger is that it will extend the life of your wetsuit by hanging it from the waist. This will relieve stress from the shoulder area and also makes the suit dry faster since it only needs to dry half the length.

This could be the best investment you’ll make to preserve your precious wetsuit. Visit Matuse to learn more about this hanger and also to check out their line of superior wetsuits for men and women.

Tray 6 Bags

I love going everywhere in my scooter these days. It’s really convenient and super fun. These bags caught my eye because they have a strap that goes across your body to keep your bag on you while riding your scooter. My favorite part really are the graphics and color choices. They are simple but really pretty, I want one!

The bags are made by a Tray 6 Design Lab, a company known for really fashionable umbrellas. Visit them here to see the rest of their collection.

500 Color Pencils by Social Designer

Social Designers

Color pencils were always my favorite gift as a kid. I never had enough colors in my pencil case. This is why I was very excited to see the Social Designer’s website, they offer a subscription to ship 25 color pencils monthly for 20 months; this way you can pay for them slowly and be the proud owner of an incredible 500 color pencil set!.

As you can imagine, 500 color pencils will not be your ordinary art set, this is something worth displaying. Social Designer sells four different types of displays, they are all fantastic ways to show this beautiful collection. I can’t stop looking at their images. They inspire me to take my color pencils out and start drawing.
